Grandmama

Today, a postcard came in the mail.
It came from one of the most important and treasured people in my life.
My Grandmother.

Printed on the postcard was a poem entitled , " The Difference ".

The Difference

I got up early one morning
and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish that i didn't have time to pray.
Problems just tumbled about me,
and heavier came each task,
"Why doesn't God help me?"
I wondered,
He answered, "You didn't ask".

I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on grey and bleak,
I wondered why God didn't show me,
He said, "You didn't seek".
I tried to come into God's presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
" My child, you didn't knock" .

I woke up early this morning,
and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that i had to take time to pray.

Lovely, no?

And of course, G-ma's loverly, inspirational words of wisdom :
Dont confuse a mere bend in the road as the end of the line.

I love my Umi. :) Thank you.

Oh, and American idol guys are the freaking bomb. Mom, Umi and I are obsessed with David Archuleta:)
Bubye.
Love,
Farah

A levels - and we're just getting started.

Scratching copious notes. Paper strewn wall to wall. Coffee, toast, alarm clocks, dictionaries. Elvis, Chicago, RENT, Maroon 5. Cacophony. Musical catastrophe. Lyrical, metaphysical mess. Parocial views, arcane passages, abtruse formulae . Neurons conflagrate. Quagmire. Predicament. Clap-trap. Jargon. Confusing cavort of fear mangled with desperate hopes. Entrappment. Dissolving aspirations. Abbhored system. Failure. Nadir of stained youth. Stark naked sheet; empty . Flare Flare. Scrawl Scrawl. Must finish. From the ramshacked slumps to the metropolis of the world.

Scratch On.

Word of the day: Comprimised.

I've been hit by the first wave of carrer-path breakdowns - an annual event that peaks during grad years. I feel that i've been shortchanged by the system. My potential has been curbed by the choices i made and the ones to come. And i've been comprimised as a person. Its not in my power to change it now - ok, fine; i have the choice of staying back a year and repeating my JC life in a different course. But how is that going to help me? I picked a science course because it supports career choice numero uno ; Medicine AND because i have the choice to switch to the Arts in Uni if i want to. Right?

But is this freedom to choose really worth a part of my character, personality, opinion, mind, soul and life being comprimised?

I've finally emailed Shazeea - a contact in Monash. Something i should have done 2 years ago. The interviews for the medicine faculty in Monash is this June. I really don't think i'll make it for those interviews. I'm definitely waaaay too insecure and lost for that and i doubt a sudden change of mind or a blast of optimism is lurking anywhere near.

Ah, teen-life crisis. Major teen-life crisis.

I hate how my youth is slipping away from me. Gonna be a old prune soon. A Hot old prune :) Heh. At least, my sense of humour has'nt been comprimised. Yet. I hope. Oh dear.

Sighing my minutes away amidst tutorials and caffeine,
the very exhausted,
Sulking Farah.

Sunday

Aloha.
I just got back from the gym. I feel so fresh. :)
Anyway, I'm going to make this short because I've got a pile of work sitting on my desk waiting for me.
Update,update.
Being a science student, i've been cursed with the March Common Test. - No, naming it a 'progress test' does NOT change anything. Morons.
But you know, a part of me is happy that i've got the tests - another incentive to glue myself to my desk and enslave myself to the power of the pen.
Also,i've started excercising! Major progress :)
I have to have to have to stick to a schedule that i've drawn up. I, Farah Bawany, hereby promise to stick to my study-schedule and i vow to walk home from school at least once a week, go for a run to bedok and back on Mondays and hit the gym on the weekends. I am so proud of myself. Not to mention over-ambitious.

Watched Sweeney yesterday. Ohmygosh. Brilliance. Masterpiece. I am dumbfounded. Loved it Loved it. No complaints whatsoever.

Here's the scene that we missed. I can beleive we missed this scene!

and my personal favourite..

Okay. OFF to work :) Got a wedding to attend later!
Ciao
Love,
Farah

Twisting.

Note: The tittle of the post has nothing to do the post. So if you are interested, by any chance, in a post about vertigo and pain. Too bad, wrong page. BUBBYE.

Note to self: Am very wierd tonight. Perhaps, its because i am convinced that it is ONE AM. Not eleven pm. I mean, seriously??!!

Okay, so, my clockwork has gone a bit cukoo. I guess its synching with the rest of my body, eh?

Heh.

Oh. I know why i'm so tired. Its cos i finally exercised. Explains it all.

Ooh.Ooh. Coincidences. Don't you just love coincidences? ( I appologise for the abrupt switch in topic. Clearly, this post is unplanned and i'm rather woozy on Benedrill )

Back to coincidences, today, on my way to EXPO, i bumped into Nisa and Mas who were - get this- sitting next to Nadia, Syakira, Ryan and Hui Min at Starbucks who had bumped into Michael and Shaun and Xiang Yun. Okay. fine. Not a big coincidence. But still amusing to some extent. Right?

Anyway (back to a proper blog-like post), i spent my CNY holidays with the family. It was great reunion fun. Ate loads of yummy-yummy food and i went SHOPPING. * Beam of white light streams down from the heavens illuminating my illuminated... uhm.. empty.. uhm.. wallet.*

I'm not a natural materialist. I just found myself rather addicted to shopping this weekend. I went to Tebrau City's JUSCO - it's this magnificent mega-mall which is about 5 times the size of VivoCity. I am not exaggerating. I still feel like going back there despite the fact that i spent over hundreds of dollars on things - i quote the darling mother- " you have enough of theesseeee" " they all look the same " " its enough!!" . She is so menopausal. I think i'm catalysing the early enslaught of hormones. I should stop it. Should -the word of my life.

So yes, i shopped and only stopped only for Starbucks where i jacked up on three shots of caffeine, caramel and java chips that went straight to my.. err.. head. Heh.

As soon as i got my butt back to homeground, i was swept off to Sahara. For more sheesha with crazy friends who spilt VODKA on my NEW shoes. Grrr. My shoes are so preettty. Hello. I am Cinderella .

But yes. My weekend was SEXciting.

OOOH. Guess who is going for Santana's concert next Monday. Yeap. So smart my darling readers. I appologise. Being patronising is fun. From this side :)

I am going to get some shut-eye. Week of schoolschmool, here i come.

Oh , and if any of you find me loitering on the internet for an hour please, please call me and remind me that it is my A level year, and that my future is dangling on a really, really thin string. And if i snap this string, i'm screwed.

Yes, we can.

Hillary in the lead but there is still hope. In Obama's words, "there has never been anything false about Hope."
Here's a really nice video put together by numerous stars from the US who now not only grace the pages of magazines, but also steer the votes of the youth and citizens of The United States Of America through the universal language of music. It's really nice and somewhat reminds me of Martin Luther. Just, watch. :)

ELECTIONS

Okay. Short, short post. I promise. I swear, i've been blogging way too much. You would know. Three posts in less than 24 hours. Ridiculous. Anyway, all i wanna say is...
B to the A to the R-A-C-K O-B-A-M-A!!!!
Its super tuesday! *gasp*
Go look at the front page of tomorrow's newspaper if you don't already know what i am talking about.
okay. done. BYE.

Hello Everybody!
Yes, i am in a good mood.Despite the antibiotics. Strange, is it not?
Anyway, i'm going to make this a snappy-snappy post. Just gonna lay down some videos for all my homies to watch. Gosh, mental paralysis is bad, y'all.

Okay, this first video is a classic. Its hillarious, really. You should watch another video by the same girl entitled " just a wee bit tired" . Watch it - especially if you are into theatre. You'd really be able to relate :)

Now this, is a video by a band called Bright Eyes. I think i embedded the same song. But the video is worth a watch. One of those fuzzy-wuzzy vids :)

And, last but not least, here is my new girl-crush! Haha. No, but seriously, she is adorable and her smile is so infectious (did you realise that if you spell smile wrongly you get slime? - heh, the magical world of farah's typo errors). Also, i am a sucker for ukuleles. I think i'll have a band play the ukulele at my wedding. Yes, under a white gazebo. Aweeee.

Okay. I'm off. Enjoy :)

MobblyBobbly

Antibiotics cause lethal nerve-damage.They stunt mental growth and hinder any intellectual development. In fact, the effect on the nervous system is so acute that one might feel drowsy, tense, disoriented and will suffer - without a doubt - from what youth quote to be "extreme zoming out" more commonly known as feeling BLEAGH.As a result, youth today, under the influence of Doctor James' beloved Crixan, find themselves struggling to comprehend the strings of alphabets that make up the sheets of turorials and notes that the college duly rations at a ridiculous rate. They are left behind in dire straits, desperately attempting to control their lifeless bodies that have fallen victim to pre-death rigor mortis. With their hopes of surviving the next day of college dashed, these helpless victims find themselves in a pit and resort to blogging aimlessly, praying to the lord of virtual technology that Chris Crocker would produce another mind-blowing video that might help them out of this rut.Till then, their sulphur-tinited eyes will stare unblinkingly at either a familiar page of virtual mayhem or the vicious, cruel words of the cunning lecturer who is out to cause more mental paralysis. Their incapacitated fingers will still try to craft works of artistry on the blank, lined pages that need to be filled by dawn as their wandering minds wonder and ponder how one might really feel having fireworks blown up their asses.

I think it might hurt, no? The fireworks, i mean. As in, Haemorrhoids might happen, right?

Since i am obviously unable to consume anymore formulas from Organic Chemistry that are supposed to make some sense and since I find myself unable to write about Shakespeare's magnificent dramatic techniques, i think i might try my hand at listing how my magninficent week culminated with a glorious picnic at the beach.

Where to start?

Switchfoot! Thrusday came and Farah, who was feeling rather down and under the weather strolled out of her first period, determined to get an early-leave slip and board a 38 that will transport her to the comfort of a soft bed for another lethargic nap that could perhaps finally end her mopey moods. On the way out of college, she heard voices hollering from a distance. She retracted - to find the band members of Switchfoot sauntering toward a group of squeeling mice in green skirts. Immediately, the tension drained from her numb body and she too, turned into a squeeling retard as she tore through the group of amatuers while her inner groupie was set free. Farah spent the next hour or so discussing delectable onde-ondes with lead singer, Jon Foreman.

Now, be jealous. Be very jealous.
Moving on...

Friday came. School went by pleasently. Drama zoomed by and it was on to the higly anticipated Chinese New Year Carnival. Leon and Lubbydooby were emceeing and Fred and Nadia performed. Both performances i think were shortchanged due to a really crappy sound system. Someone fix the College's audio system please.

These anitbiotics are really, really mind numbing - I'm starting to feel that blogging is too much of a chore to pursue right now. I think im going to quit pre AND post ammbling. Its way too tiring. Listing should suffice. Here goes...

We're still on Friday by the way.

Headed home. Took a shower and was off to arab st. Found a really nice egyptian restaurant. Had a fantastic time eating Chicken Falafel and shee-shaing with Nadu, Mumtash, Roshni, Suraj and Shanker. Funfunfun.

Saturday! I seriously can't recall what happened to those 24 hours. I'm serious. *nerve-damage*
Oh, i was studying. That explains it all.

Sunday! I caught up with Mazmo and we went to watch the Kite Runner as a belated birthday treat. I promise to dedicate a proper post to the Kite Runner. My current state of mind will not do it any justice. As it is, its massacring what was a really good week.:(

After the heart-wrenching movie, Mazmo and I walked to Doby Ghaut and had a loverly Ben and Jerry's sundae. ( I still have some more voucers to spend by April. If you are nice enough, I'll bring you. :) Here is where i burst into that song which Queen Latifa sang in the movie Chicago "If you stroke Mama, Mama will stroke youuuu"... or uhm...something like that )

And then, i went on for dinner with Aunty Sarah, Nadu and Imran who came down with his four Uni-buddies.

Finally got home by eleven plus and i was exhausted.

Soon enough, i was sneezing and had a horrible fever. So, i crawled under my covers, moping about falling ill again.

Today, it was off to Doctor James' where he administered Crixan once again.

Meanwhile..

Mum was in a crazy mood. It might be due to the CD i burned her. Its like a compilation of songs by Banarama, Cindy Lauper, Paula Abdul, Huey Lewis, Marvin Gaye, MC Hammer, Prince, Madonna... You get the gist, right? Extremely happy songs that sent her reeling back in time.

She is a transformed woman. Im not pulliing anyone's leg.

Mum was in this effervescent, erratic, impulsive mood and she decided randomly to not go to work and instead, we went on a picnic that lasted from 2 to 7. It was so randomly ridiculous. Or, vice versa.

We pulled out a mat, bought munchies that exacerbated my sore-throat, but were yummy nontheless, and sat down under a nice, big shady tree for 5 hours. It was great fun. Of course, i was fretting that a teacher would see me there and think that i was playing truant.

True enough, i bumped into 5 teachers! The terrifying, strict, regime of releif teachers lead by Miss Maryam! The Horror! Haha. It was quite funny la.

Anyway, I need to sleeep.NOWNOWNOW.

Its like my cerebellum has been scewered. Dilema of the night : to go to school or not to go? Ponder Ponder. Only time will tell.

Adiue! Adiue!
Lovelove,
Princess Farah
